The boil order in Ware has been lifted, police announced Thursday afternoon.
Ware residents were asked to boil water before using it after a water sample collected a week ago tested positive for E.coli.
Town officials made the announcement of their findings a day after, saying that a water sample taken from the cistern source tested positive for the fecal indicator.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, E.coli bacteria can be found in the environment, foods, and intestines of people and animals. E.coli is a large and diverse group of bacteria.
The cistern is one of four sources that distributes drinking water to the town.
Although E.coli was not detected in distribution system samples, the town urged all residents to boil their water before using it for anything.
