Community Host Agreement drafted in Ware for recreational marijuana

Hampshire County

A major hurdle has been cleared for retail pot shops in Massachusetts, after New England Treatment Access in Northampton had their final license approved.

The town of Ware could see shops selling recreational marijuana. A marijuana dispensary has been proposed for a building located at 2 Vernon Street in Ware.

But first, Herbal Pathways must have a Community Host Agreement with the town before anything can move forward. The board of selectmen recently approved a motion to allow for that Community Host Agreement to be drafted.

Once that agreement is finalized, Herbal Pathways can then apply for state approval.

However, another Hampshire county town has received approval from the state to sell recreational marijuana.

On Thursday New England Treatment access in Northampton was granted its recreational marijuana license by the Cannabis Control Commission. The CCC also approved a retail pot shop in Leicester.

These were the first 2 businesses in the state to be approved to sell recreational pot.
