SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - A large portion of the South Hadley plaza is still vacant after several years. But a Dollar Tree could be opening in the former Movie Gallery soon.
According to Town Manager Mike Sullivan, the business attended a planning board meeting on Tuesday, to apply for an illuminated sign.
As far as the 65,000 square-foot space that Big Y once occupied, Sullivan said, he hasn't received any updates from the private owners in months.
The plaza near the intersection of Newton and Lyman Streets was bought for $2.4 million after a foreclosure on the former owners.
The property is now owned by local businessmen: Peter Picknelly, owner of Peter Pan Bus Company;
Rocco Falcone, CEO of Rocky's Ace Hardware; and the Yee family, who owns Johnny's Bar & Grille as well as Johnny's Taproom.
