Young people registered to vote and filled out absentee ballots in Northampton Tuesday night.

With just one day left to register for the state primary in September, a “Young Voters Night” was held in Northampton to help young people, new to the voting process, make sure they will be able to cast their ballots.

One young man about to head off to college at Brown University was able to fill out an absentee ballot at the event before he left.

Galen Winsor told 22News he believes the absentee process can cause confusion for people headed out of state for school.

“I totally think there’s a lot of misunderstanding around the process, and I really care about this town, in particular, giving western mass a voice in the state house, and I really wanted to make sure I was making my voice heard here and not in Rhode Island,” said Winsor.

You can still register online, in person with your local election official, or by mail if it is postmarked by tomorrow.
