Easthampton H.S. racial incident still a controversy on first week of school

Hampshire County

The Massachusetts Attorney General continues to address incidents that took place at Easthampton High School last year.

The Attorney General’s office entered into a memorandum of agreement last August.

A state review found Easthampton High School policies needed updating concerning bias-related harassment, and police involvement in the 2017-2018 school year.

A fight on March 29th of last year involved four boys after someone used a racial slur in a text message.

A letter from the Attorney General’s office to the Easthampton school district in July said it is confident that the school will address these concerns heading into the new school year — after meeting with the superintendent this summer.

The school is developing a 3-year plan to combat bullying on campus.
