The City of Easthampton has decided to lower the tax rate for the 2019 fiscal year.
The fiscal year 2019 rate is a result of new growth, current market conditions, and property modifications as of January 1, 2018.
The Massachusetts Department of Revenue has certified the fiscal year 2019 tax rate at $15.46 per $1,000 of assessment.
The 2019 rate is 54 cents less than the fiscal year 2018 tax rate of $16.00.
The average single-family assessed value is $256,678 up from $239,362 in 2018. The single rate applies to all classes of real property, commercial and industrial as well as residential.
Easthampton city officials were unable to comment on this new tax rate Friday since city hall is closed on Fridays.
