Easthampton raises Pride flag in support of LGBTQ community

Hampshire County

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Pride flag was raised at Easthampton City Hall in support of the LGBTQ community.

Mayor Nicole LaChapelle issued a proclamation in support of the regional and national Pride celebrations Thursday evening.

For the first time ever, the Easthampton community will be represented in the Northampton Pride event, which is happening Saturday, May 4.

One member of the Easthampton Pride Committee told 22News, Thursday night’s flag raising and proclamation show significant growth for their city.

Jane Hamel told 22News, “It’s always been a welcoming town, but we’ve had issues. And they seem to be getting worked out which is a wonderful thing.”

According to the Easthampton Pride Committee, tickets to march in the Pride celebration are already sold out.
