On Dec. 3, Easthampton Police were called to a pedestrian accident on Cottage Street that took the life of 63-year-old Denise Herzog of Easthampton.

Investigators determined that Herzog was walking across Cottage St., in a marked crosswalk, when she was struck by a vehicle Schmid was driving. Herzog died from the injuries she suffered in the accident the following day.

Schmid could spend up to two and a half years in prison if convicted of the charges she faces. That conviction also carries a 15-year loss of license.
