SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – Three coyote pups were rescued from a pool in South Hadley Saturday morning.
According to the Massachusetts Environmental Police, the three pups had somehow become trapped inside an in-ground pool.
The pups were rescued by an officer and were found to be wet, but otherwise healthy, so they were released.
Spring is a common time for people to find newborn or young wildlife. According to Mass.gov, if you find a young animal you should not take it from the wild in an attempt to save it.
If you happen to find a young animal alone in the wild, you should leave it alone. The parents of the animal are often nearby and caring for it.
However, if you come across a young animal with injuries or with a mother that has died you should contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
It is illegal to take nearly all wild birds and mammals to be taken from the wild or kept as pets.
