Family without a home after fire in Easthampton

Hampshire County

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A family has to find somewhere else to stay after their Easthampton home caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

The fire happened at 51 Hannum Brook Drive shortly after 3:30 p.m. According to the Easthampton Fire Department, crews faced extreme heat and limited visibility when they got inside the home.

The fire was put out in about 25 minutes with mutual aid from Northampton, Holyoke, Westhampton, Southampton, South Hadley, Westfield, Amherst, and Westover Air Reserve Base crews.

There were no injuries, but extra manpower was called in due to the extreme heat.

The Easthampton Fire Department estimates the fire caused $175,000 in damage to the home.
