Northampton residents woke up to a fire in an apartment building on Masonic Street early Thursday morning.
Northampton Fire Chief Duane Nichols told 22News no one was injured in the fire, which was contained to one second floor apartment.
The fire department is currently working with the building commissioner at this time. Nichols said no one staying there tonight, but property management expects about 10 residents to get back into the apartment in the next day or two.
In addition to apartments, the building houses a law office on the first floor and a book store in the basement. Crews have laid down tarps in those businesses to prevent water damage.
The State Fire Marshal, and Northampton Fire and Police are working on the cause of the fire.
