EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters from Easthampton and surrounding communities worked to put out a house fire on Church Street Friday afternoon.
According to the Easthampton Fire Chief Christopher Norris, the fire started around 12:10 p.m. When firefighters arrived, flames could be seen coming out of the garage door. All people inside the home got out safely.
The fire was intense enough to cause exterior heat damage to a nearby home.
The home did have working smoke detectors, Chief Norris said.

Several stations were called in to assist, including:
- Northampton Fire
- Barnes Air National Guard
- Southampton Fire
- Westhampton Fire
- Holyoke Fire
- Westfield Fire
- South Hadley Fire
- Westover Over Air Force Base
- Easthampton Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Easthampton Fire and Police Departments.
