Hampshire County

Police are investigating after a man was found dead on campus at UMass Amherst Tuesday night.

Northwestern District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Mary Carey told 22News UMass-Amherst Police and Massachusetts State Police were called to a report of a man who had fallen from the Lederle Graduate Research Center building on campus at around 5:25 p.m.

Carey said they found the body of a 25-year-old man from Hampton, New Hampshire, who had apparently fallen from the 16th floor of the building.

The man was a former student at UMass Amherst, but was not currently enrolled there.

Carey said the man’s death is not being investigated as suspicious. Local and state police are continuing to look into what led up to his death.
