Hampshire County 4-H Fair celebrates student achievements and skills

Hampshire County

The 2018 Hampshire County 4-H Fair was held Saturday afternoon at the Cummington Fairgrounds.

The free event showcased the achievements and skills that students in UMass’s 4-H Extension Program have learned throughout the year.

From animal exhibitions to crafts there was something for all. 22News spoke to a 4-H educator who explained the appeal of the program.

“If people are out there and they’re interested in their sons or daughters getting involved in a hands-on project, getting away for a little bit from the iPads and iPods for a moment…4H is the program,” said Tom Waskiewicz.

The 4-H program provides hands-on learning and education programs for children ages 5-18.

There are currently 72 4-H clubs in the Pioneer Valley.
