A local energy supplier is moving to provide 100 percent renewable energy to its customers.
Hampshire Power is working to transition its customers to all renewable energy.
Hampshire Power is the only local nonprofit electricity supplier in Massachusetts. Seventy-two percent of their customers already use green energy and they’re looking to increase that number through the use of solar, wind and agricultural anaerobic digesters which convert organic waste into biogas.
Executive Director Todd Ford told 22News, “As part of our effort to combat the climate crisis, we’ve made the decision to convert all of our customers to 100 percent green electricity.”
One hundred and forty-four area businesses, towns, and nonprofits have joined with Hampshire Power and their hoping more will follow.
