NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Northampton Fire Rescue hosted its second Health and Wellness Clinic on Tuesday.

Firefighter John Bousquet wears many hats, as an educator and paramedic. He’ll take your blood pressure and devise the best way of how to cook your food without leading to a fire. And he’s always coming up with new ideas to benefit and older population that’s often at risk.

“Next quarter we’re thinking about doing CPR as well,” said Bousquet.

Northampton Senior Center members couldn’t be any more delighted with what they learned Tuesday about something as deceptively simple as preparing a meal safety without doing anything foolish along the way.

“Watch out for wires in the way, I was told I should probably check with my doctor because my blood pressure is a little high today,” said Sandra Milo, a member of the Northampton Senior Center.

Within the space of several hours, Northampton seniors came away with tips for cooking safely and found out their heart rate and blood pressure numbers. It’s a health and wellness clinic that accomplishes what it sets out to do.
