NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Boaters at the Oxbow Marina told 22News water levels at the marina have gotten as high as several feet above normal sea level.
This month alone, western Massachusetts has seen up to five and a half inches of rain. Almost 2 inches more than the average rain total for the entire month of November.
22News shot video of many walkways at the marina that was covered in water.
One boater says he expects more people to get their boats out of the marina to prevent from any damage that can be caused by flooding.
"With more water coming down, I expect more people to be in a rush to come get their boats before something happens and who knows, their boats can break loose," said Chris Scott of Northampton.
Scott said water levels don't tend to get this high at the marina until when the river thaws after the winter.
Boaters should also be aware of stronger currents that heavy rain can cause.
