A special horse show was held in South Hadley Saturday in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The “Sunrise Pleasure Horse Show Series” held the event at Mount Holyoke College.
Riders from all over New England came out, dressed in pink, to show their support and compete.

22News spoke with one competitor, Gina DiCarlo, who rides in honor of her mother who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2012. She said of her horse Fred, “I got him five years ago. He actually just turned into a teenager this year. He and I are a good team together. He’s my forever at this point.”

More than 100 people attended last year’s event. All proceeds from the horse show will be donated to cancer research.
