Hundreds of customers line up at NETA on Black Friday

Hampshire County

NETA in Northampton opened for recreational marijuana sales Tuesday, but on Black Friday they saw some seriously long lines.

The line wrapped completely around the building, with people bundled up waiting in frigid temperatures for a chance to legally purchase pot.

A spokesman for NETA said Tuesday that the company had served around 2,000 recreational customers on their opening day.

But, Friday they were so busy, NETA posted on Facebook Friday night that due to the “long line and current wait times” they would be capping the line to get in at 7:30 p.m. NETA is only open until 10:00 p.m. at night.

“The atmosphere in line is awesome, everyone is super excited, they don’t care about having to be in line for like three hours. It’s not too bad. I mean I’d rather deal with this line than we at the mall fighting over a tv,” said Kourtney Harris who drove down from New York to purchase some of the state’s first legal marijuana.

Those who used NETA’s reserve ahead tool were able to continue picking up their items after 7:30 p.m. and avoid much of the wait.
