There will soon be two recreational pot shops operating in Hampshire County.

NETA will be getting some competition because the Cannabis Control Commission has authorized INSA in Easthampton to begin sales as early as Friday.

INSA will become the second recreational pot shop to open in western Massachusetts, and currently operates as a medical marijuana dispensary.

Verilife in Wareham has also been authorized by the CCC to begin adult cannabis sales.

INSA’s CEO said they’re still waiting for the CCC to clear the exact date, but they’re hoping to launch retail sales on Saturday,

Retail pot sales have generated long lines in Northampton, and INSA says they’re expecting as many as 3,000 people on opening day.

In preparation of crowds, INSA’s CEO said they’ve hired police details, their own security team, and have secured additional parking.

INSA and Verilife will be the fourth and fifth recreational pot shops to open in Massachusetts since voters legalized pot in 2016.
