Local bars keeping busy ahead of Thanksgiving

Hampshire County

The night before Thanksgiving is considered one of the busiest drinking nights of the year.

“Thanksgiving Eve” as it’s known, is a night when many people return home and go out with high school friends before gathering with family on Thursday.

At Platform Sports Bar in Northampton, the bar and restaurant opened hours earlier than they would on an average Wednesday. They also changed they’re staffing levels to keep up.

“It’s a madhouse,” said Tony Caruso. “People are in town visiting family, and they want to grab a drink before the festivities. We staff like we would normally do for a Friday or Saturday night.”

Platform’s manager told 22News the bar starts to get very busy at 10:30 p.m.
