A unique graduation party in Northampton Sunday afternoon. One family celebrated their son’s graduation raising money for ALS.
The party was called: “A VOICE FOR ALS” and it featured NBC’s The Voice star Terry McDermott, the Scottish rocker from Team Blake on Season 3.
The family event was free and open to the public with a suggested donation at the door.
ALS is a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and affects nerve cells in the brain.
The ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter came out to support the family’s effort, and donated Red Sox tickets to raffle off.
Sherrene Wells, who is one of the parents, told 22News it was all her son’s idea, “I asked my son what he wanted for his graduation party, and he’s like, ‘I don’t need a party, but you know I’d love to hear Terry sing.’ I said, ‘let’s do it.’
McDermott added, “A cause very close to me because I lost my mother to ALS in 2002, so I’m enormously grateful to be part of this.”
The family says raising money for ALS is vital for those who have the disease.
