Dozens of local high students attended the annual Youth Climate Summit on Thursday at Hampshire College in Amherst.
It was a beautiful day for students to spend time outdoors while learning about climate change.
Students spent the day outside enjoying the outdoors and wildlife at Hampshire College. They engaged in conversation with their peers on the issue of climate change and discussed the steps they can take to address the issue.
“Often times as youths in this country, we’re told the message that our voices don’t matter as much that we’re young, we’re not well educated, we don’t have the life experience to make changes but that’s not true,” said Rhys MacArthur.
High schools from Holyoke, Amherst, and Northampton were part of Thursday’s summit. The event continues Friday in Amherst and in Easthampton.
