Massachusetts is receiving state funding for river and wetland restoration.
The Baker-Polito Administration announced more than $180 million in state grant funds for projects in Falmouth, North Adams, Northampton, and Easthampton. This will help fund programs to combat and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Mass Audubon’s Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in Easthampton will receive nearly $24,000 for forest restoration.
This money will help restore 15-acres of existing grassland and return it to a high-terrace floodplain forest community. That includes creating habitat for several rare plants and animal species.
