Love was in the air in Northampton Thursday! Multiple businesses had their Valentine’s Day items on display as shoppers came in to buy items for their loved ones.
Valentine’s Day marks a busy time of the year for retail. Chocolates, cards, and flowers topped shoppers’ lists.
Forget Me Not Florist said they’d received holiday pre-orders as early as January.
“Time sensitive deliveries went out first thing this morning,” Forget Me Not Florist Owner Rebecca Fitzgerald said. “It was kind of chaotic today trying to get everybody together and organize the deliveries but it’s been smooth sailing all day.”
With chocolate also being one of the top Valentine’s Day gifts, Heavenly Chocolate in Northampton made sure they had more than enough on hand.
“Valentine’s Day for us is our Super Bowl, so it’s our biggest few days of the year,” Heavenly Chocolate employee Dan Mckenny said. “We match what we make the rest of the year just on Valentine’s Day.”
According to the National Retail Federation, the average person celebrating Valentine’s day will spend about $160.
