Almost a week after NETA began selling recreational marijuana, long lines and increased traffic continues in Northampton.
NETA officials said they have been working closely with Northampton police this past week to make sure things run smoothly. According to NETA’s Director of Operational Compliance Amanda Rositano there have been no problems.
Despite the long lines, and increased traffic, NETA has been in control.
“The City of Northampton Police Department has a lot of experience dealing with an influx of traffic into the town with various events throughout the year, so they were well prepared,” Rositano said. “We are still working with police details on sight just for an additional precaution. All in all things are calm and collective and running smoothly. “
The recreational marijuana shop in Leicester, which also opened last week, is holding an emergency hearing Monday night because of the overwhelming lines and overcrowded streets.
NETA does not plan on having any sort of meeting.
The lines have calmed down more today and NETA expects that trend to continue this week.
