New committee announced to advise future plans for Hampshire College

Hampshire County

Hampshire College’s president has announced a new committee to help advise the school’s plans for the future, and it has some notable alumni.

Back in February, President Miriam Nelson announced that the school would be seeking a long term strategic partner in order to keep the school financially viable.

Nelson announced on Wednesday, the formation of the president’s options working group, the final group that will help the college’s board select the best path forward. The group was chosen for their expertise in business and education.

The members include Emmy award-winning documentarian Ken Burns, and co-founder and former CEO of Stonyfield Yogurt, Gary Hirshberg, both Hampshire alumni.

Nelson said the group will meet for the first time this week and will evaluate the options that are currently under consideration by the school.
