Parkland shooting survivor to host gun violence awareness event at UMass

Hampshire County

A survivor from the Parkland, Florida shooting is hosting a gun violence awareness event at UMass Amherst Monday.

A former Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student and current UMass student, Hannah Karcinell, is an activist for gun violence awareness.

On February 14, 2018, 17 people were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Since then, many students from across the country have given talks and organized rallies to increase gun violence awareness.

She will be joined by Manuel Oliver, the father of one of the victims of that shooting.

Karcinell is holding the talk tonight at 7 p.m. on the UMass Amherst campus.
