Northampton Police were called to the Elks Lodge in the Florence section of the city Thursday to investigate what the District Attorney’s Office is calling an ‘unattended death.’
Our 22News crew could see officers investigating and police tape set up around the Elks Lodge No. 997 on Spring Street Thursday morning.
A post on the lodge’s Facebook page from leader Don Rippetoe states: “Early this morning, a young man was found unresponsive in the entrance to the parking of Northampton Elks Lodge No. 997. State and Northampton Law Enforcement were onsite conducting a thorough investigation of the area.”
The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office confirmed with 22News that they’re treating the situation as an unattended death.
D.A. spokeswoman Mary Carey added that there is no threat to the public. She said the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
State Police attached to the District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
