Program to connect Easthampton seniors with law enforcement

Hampshire County

Easthampton seniors will now have more connections with local law enforcement.

The senior center launched a community policing initiative today called TRIAD.

Since 1992, the Hampshire/Franklin TRIAD Program has been a local initiative between seniors, law enforcement, and human service providers to increase safety and confidence for older citizens through education and crime prevention.

“We also bring in support and protective services like visiting nurses, different medical groups, council of aging, fire departments,” Crime Prevention Officer David Fenton said. “Everybody sits at the table and talks to seniors and we come up with things to help eliminate fear from crime or whatever we have to do.”

The TRIAD program also offers educational workshops on consumer fraud, elder abuse and shopping safety. Anyone who is a member of of the Easthampton senior center can get these services.
