Proposed Rocky Hill Rail trail would connect existing trails in Northampton

Hampshire County

A meeting was held Thursday night about a multi-use trail in Northampton.

The proposed half-mile Rocky Hill Rail trail would connect two existing trails in the area. This would give both pedestrians and bicyclists a safer and more direct route away from cars and traffic.

The multi-use trail would connect residential areas near Rocky Hill Road and Ice Pond Drive to the New Haven and Northampton Manhan Rail Trail.

Northampton Director of Planning Sustainability Wayne Fiden told 22News, “We hope they speak in favor, but if they speak in favor, against, or just have suggestions, it’s really important to us before we get too far to give the public a chance to give us those recommendations.”

The trail would also be the first multi-use trail in the southwestern and western areas of Massachusetts.
