NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A historic building in Northampton is up for sale.
The owners of Silverscape Designs are asking $2-million for the property, but they also want to find a buyer who appreciates the history of the landmark.
The building sits at the corner of King and Main Streets in Northampton, and is one of the first things you notice. The giant, 90-year-old building was once a bank, and many of the original bank features still exist inside.
The owners of Silverscape Designs also own the building.
“It’s going to appeal to a lot of people,” said Jaimie Fallon of Goggins Real Estate. “Investors are definitely going to want to take a look at it. As well as the owner-occupy type of buyer. So, if Silverscape does, in fact, decide to stay, we’re not exactly sure where it’s going to end up yet.”
To be clear, Silverscape Designs is staying in business — but the owners may move with the sale of the building.
Fallon told 22News the building is zoned for commercial use, but a future developer could easily make it mixed use, which would mean businesses on the ground level and loft living in the floors above.
