South Hadley High School honors veterans at breakfast

Hampshire County

Three veterans were the guests of honor at a breakfast at South Hadley High School Friday.

Corporal John Hurley, Sergeant David Brown and Senior Master Sergeant Michael Brunetti were honored for their service.

This is the second year South Hadley public schools have honored veterans.

Corporal Hurley told 22News the event is inspiring for both the students and the veterans.

“It’s meaningful for the students to know what veterans have gone through, something to look forward to and look up to. For the veterans its a comradery that we share. We served together and we did it for our country,” said  Corporal Hurley.

School committee chairman Kevin McAllister told 22News the event is an important history lesson for students.

Hurley and Brown both served in Vietnam.
