Thornes Marketplace will refurbish and expand a historic stained-glass window collection in late July.
According to a news release sent to 22News, Thornes will install six new stained-glass windows on the Chestnut Staircase behind the Share Coffee Shop.
The release said local artist Heather McLean was commissioned to design the windows, which are part of a two and a half story grouping of panels.
Each of the six panels by McLean measures four feet high by two feet wide, and will replace three original stained-glass windows that could not be restored.
Above the instillation of McLean’s windows will be three tiers of windows original to the building that will be cleaned, painted, and reinstalled.
The windows are expected to be installed in late July, and the instillation will not disrupt business, and is the third window replacement Thornes has undertaken.
The next phase of window replacement will involve replacing all the remaining windows on the first floor.
