Three people were injured after thousands gathered to watch and celebrate the New England Patriots victory in Super Bowl LIII at UMass Amherst Sunday.
The university’s spokesman Ed Blaguszewski told 22News one head injury and two hand injuries were reported after Sunday’s game. There were no arrests.
A crowd of 3,000 people gathered in the Southwest Residential area at UMass to celebrate the Patriots victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
The crowd gathered on the Southwest Plaza moments after the game ended at 10:04 p.m., and the area was cleared out by 11 p.m., Blaguszewski told 22News.
UMass Police reported that the crowd was “exuberant and primarily peaceful.”
According to State Police Spokesperson David Procopio, troopers were on campus to “keep order and control crowds and traffic.”
Procopio said there were also no arrests or major incidents at Westfield State University.
