UMass Amherst mourning death of student

The UMass Amherst community is mourning the death of one of its students.

In a letter sent out to students, staff, and faculty on Wednesday, Dean of Students Cara Appel-Silbaugh announced the death of Scott Erlandson.

According to the UMass Office of News and Media Relations, Erlandson died off campus.

“At this time, in keeping with the wishes of Scott’s family, I have no other information to share,” Appel-Silbaugh said in the letter.

Erlandson was a first-year student from Georgetown, Massachusetts, enrolled in the College of Information & Computer Sciences.
