AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – The NCAA Frozen Four is this week, and UMass is getting ready to make history!
UMass is preparing for its first Frozen Four appearance in program history.
The team is now just three days away from taking on Buffalo– and that much closer to a NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey title.
UMass will play Denver University, after Denver beat AIC a couple of weeks ago, winning 3-0 in the West Regional.
How did the Minutemen get here? They shutout Notre Dome 4-0 in Manchester, New Hampshire.
We spoke to one student who has been following this team all season.
“I came from a high school that was big sports oriented, so when I came to UMass I didn’t know overall how the sports teams were going to be, but then hockey really started to pick it up,” Jeff Pachaco said. “I went to all the home games. It was a great atmosphere. I hope they win and they bring it home for UMass.”
The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2. Numerous watch parties are being scheduled on campus and across the Commonwealth to watch Massachusetts hockey play for a chance at its first national championship. Read more: Where to watch UMass Hockey play in Frozen Four
The puck drops Thursday at 8:30 in Buffalo.
