After debating with the university, UMass employees will be receiving a promised pay raise.
Members of the Massachusetts Society of Professors were hoping to get their raises this week, but according to the University, those raises will be included in their December 14 paychecks.
Members of the UMass unions originally thought the raises were allegedly being held to secure more state funding.
UMass spokesperson Jeff Cournoyer said the raises will be part of their December 14 paychecks.
According to the Massachusetts Society of Professors website, the university sent them a statement that reads in part:
The president and chancellors decided today to authorize the FY18 and FY19 salary adjustments and retroactive payments for the fourteen approved state-funded units. Campus HR is making every effort to process the increases and retro payments for the December 14 paycheck.
The Massachusetts Society of Professors said they will remain vigilant with the university till that day comes.
