Voters save teachers jobs, JV sports at Granby town meeting

Hampshire County

Granby town meeting voters saved teachers jobs and JV sports Monday night.

More than 200 people filled the gym at Granby High School for Monday night’s annual town meeting.

The articles on the warrant have stirred emotions because teachers jobs and school sports are on the line.

“I’m here to vote no on laying off teachers,” said Seamus Connoly of Granby. “I’m here to vote no on ending our school sports.”

Town Clerk Kathy Kelly-Regan told 22News voters approved an amended school budget, adding more than $185,000, which essentially saved school sports, and no teachers will be laid off.
