An Easthampton woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a motor vehicle on Cottage Street Monday afternoon.
Easthampton Police Chief Alberti told 22News officers were called to the area of 30 Cottage Street for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle.
When officers and fire department paramedics arrived, they found a seriously injured 63-year-old woman and took her to a nearby hospital. The woman’s name has not been released.
Chief Alberti told 22News the driver responsible was cited and additional charges may be pending.
The pedestrian accident is still being looked into by the Easthampton Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the department’s Detective Bureau.
A portion of Cottage Street in Easthampton was closed for hours Monday afternoon, following the accident.
