Woman who died in Northampton Starbucks bathroom identified

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The woman who died in a Northampton bathroom last week has been identified. 

According to Northwestern DA Spokesperson Mary Carey, 45-year-old Joanne Sheremeta of Amherst died in the bathroom of the coffee shop on February 12. 

Officers were called to the shop at 5:31 p.m. after the woman had been in the bathroom for 45 minutes. When officers go to the Starbucks, they unlocked the door and started CPR.  

Shermeta was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital where she later died. Northampton Police Chief Jody Kasper said no foul play is suspected in Sheremeta’s death.
