The United Arc has joined the Rev Up Campaign which aims to get more people with disabilities to participate in the political process.
The United Arc held a National Disability Voter Registration Week kickoff event at its headquarters in Montague on Monday afternoon.
This agency provides support services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in western Massachusetts. They are helping people with disabilities register to vote ahead of the state primaries in September and the general elections in November.
United Arc’s Executive Director Lynne Bielecki told 22News “We’re just happy to have as many individuals who are concerned about the issues come in, learn more [and] register if they are not already.”
Bielecki explained that people with disabilities face a number of challenges including transportation, healthcare, and inclusion in the workforce.
The Rev Up Campaign also advocates for full accessibility of polling locations across the country.
Bielecki said you can register to vote with them from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all this week at their headquarters in Montague.
