Massachusetts drivers wearing seatbelts more often

Local News

More Massachusetts drivers are wearing their seatbelts, but there’s still room for improvement.

A new study conducted by the University of Massachusetts Traffic Safety Research Program found that seat belt usage rose nearly 8-percent – from 73.7 percent in 2017 to 81.6 percent in 2018.

This is the largest year-to-year hike in state history, but it’s still well below the national average which is 90.1 percent.

According to AAA Northeast, seat belts are the best-proven tool we have to prevent roadway deaths.
