(WWLP) – Massachusetts Red Cross volunteers are getting ready to deploy to Louisiana in response to Tropical Storm Barry.

According to the Red Cross, the volunteers are preparing to leave as early as Sunday. Barry is the first tropical storm to threaten the U.S. this season. It’s main threats to Louisiana are flooding and storm surge.

Red Cross volunteers will be ready to provide shelter and relief supplies for thousands of people as the storm passes.
