SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – Strong thunderstorms moved across western Massachusetts Tuesday afternoon bringing heavy rain and lightning.
Multiple trees have been reported down on North Main Street in South Hadley following storms in the area. According to South Hadley Electric Light Department, two utility poles owned by Verizon need to be replaced on North Main Street. Repairs are expected to continue throughout the night. A tree was also down over Maple Street.
The South Hadley Electric Light Department also says several other areas that lost power are in the process of being restored:
- North Street – Services are expected to return to residents in the area by Tuesday night.
- River Road and Rigger Lane – Services have been restored.
- Cove Island Road – Utility pole replacement is required, is expected to take several hours to repair.
Scattered showers and storms will continue to develop into the evening. Be ready for a few thunderstorms that could produce heavy rain and strong winds. Skies are expected to gradually clear after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. The humidity will be noticeable.
