SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Volleyball's local history is being celebrated with a collegiate men's volleyball tournament this weekend.
The International Volleyball Hall of Fame's annual Morgan Classic tipped off at Springfield College's Blake Arena Friday night.
The tournament continues into tomorrow and ends with the tournament championship match. After beating Marymount, Springfield College will play (NYU/Vassar) for the title.
Sean McKeon from Middletown, told 22News, "It's nice. I like how they do this format where we get to see four quality teams in a couple of days. It's very entertaining. You get to see high-level volleyball."
The Morgan Classic commemorates the heritage volleyball by celebrating its founder and recognizing athletic talent.
William Morgan invented the game of volleyball at the Holyoke YMCA in 1895.
