Springfield woman arrested in Longmeadow for 5th OUI offense

A Springfield woman was arrested for her fifth OUI in Longmeadow Thursday.

According to Longmeadow police, Iris Ward was arrested Thursday for operating under the influence of alcohol, her fifth offense, negligent operation, operating with a revoked license (habitual traffic offender), marked lanes violation, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. 

Longmeadow police said the incident began when a person witnessed Ward driving erratically, narrowly missing a head-on collision. 

The caller followed the vehicle and called 911. 

Police were able to end the dangerous situation and arrested Ward. 

Ward will be arraigned in Springfield District Court.
