Want to take a shelter dog out on a field trip?

EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)  — A new program at Second Chance Animal Services in East Brookfield allows dogs the opportunity to get out of the shelter and go out on field trips!

Second Chance is asking volunteers to take shelter dogs on field trips as part of their new Dog’s Day Out program, which launched on Friday.

“Foster programs of any length help reduce stress for dogs in kennels and provide them with enrichment and increase their visibility in the community with potential adopters,” Second Chance CEO Sheryl Blancato said.

The shelter will provide each dog with a backpack filled with all the essentials for a fun day out — a water bowl, frisbee, poop bags, and even a leash and bandanna that say ‘adopt me.’
