A Hyannis woman is being charged with larceny after allegedly stealing from a charity event.
The Barnstable Police Department responded to the Cape Codder Resort for a reported larceny a little after 10:00pm Friday.
The resort was hosting a charity fundraiser in honor of Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon, who was killed in the line of duty in April.
According to Barnstable police, witnesesses told officers that a silent auction item was missing.
Police were able to identify the thief as 56-year-old Maureen Wiggin with the help of security footage. They later recovered the stolen item from the trunk of her vehicle.
Wiggin will appear in Barnstable District Court.
