Grocery stores across the country were filled with determined shoppers Sunday, grabbing food for their Christmas dinner.
Many western Massachusetts residents got their Christmas grocery shopping done at Big E’s in Easthampton.
Matthew Counter, from Easthampton, told 22News this time of year is always busy, “Its pretty busy especially being around the holidays. So there are a lot of people in there getting ready for Christmas.”
The week before Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for grocery stores. Big E’s in Easthampton was busy all day with people picking up last minute items for their Christmas feasts.
Some of the top-selling Christmas foods include hams, beef roasts, turkeys, potatoes, and squash.
Karen Popielarczyk, an Easthampton woman said she looking forward to hosting this year’s Christmas celebration and seeing her family, “Its all about getting together its all about celebrating family, we keep gifts to a minimum. It’s about family time.”
If you still need to purchase food items for your Christmas dinner, you only have until Monday, all Massachusetts grocery stores will be closed on Christmas Day.
